Most debit cards in the UK are built to do one thing: let you spend money you already have, with no interest and no debt (excluding overdrafts). Rewards and points? That’s traditionally been a credit-card party. But things are shifting. A few forward-looking providers now offer cash-back, perks or even points on debit spending. Still rare, yes, but for anyone who wants to earn without borrowing, it's a welcome middle ground.
Debit vs. credit rewards
Credit cards remain the platinum standard for rewards: high earn rates (cash-back, air miles, points), but only if you pass the credit check and pay off your balance each month.
Debit? Simpler. You spend your own money - no interest, no credit checks. But few banks and card issuers reward that.
Rewards availability:Â
- Credit cards: Widely available (points, air miles, cashback)
- Debit cards: Limited-only a few providers

- Credit cards: Credit check, risk of interest, if unpaid in fullÂ
- Debit cards: No borrowing, no interest
Value:
- Credit cards: Often high earn ratesÂ
- Debit cards: Lower or capped cash-back
Which U.K. debit cards offer rewards?
Barclays Blue Rewards
Not a rewards debit card in the classic sense - this is a £5/month loyalty bundle. You get boosted savings rates, streaming perks like Apple TV+, and cash back at selected retailers. Whether it’s worthwhile depends on how much you’ll use those extras.
Chase U.K. current account
Known for its 1% cash-back for new customers (capped at £15/month) on everyday spending. Post-April 2025, it's limited to UK groceries, fuel and transport - excluding overseas spend. To retain the benefit after year one, you must lodge at least £1,500/month.
Monzo
No ongoing debit rewards. What you get instead are occasional in-app cash-back offers (2–10%) at select retailers, plus “Perks†(£7/month) that include lifestyle treats, not tied to spending.
Starling Bank
No debit rewards or cash-back from Starling at this time.
Revolut (RevPoints)
RevPoints is Revolut’s loyalty scheme, launched June 2024, that lets you earn points on eligible card spending, stays, experiences, Revolut Pay, and other actions.Spend-to-points ratios vary by plan the more you pay, the more you earn. With the Ultra plan earning you 1point per £1. Extra points come from spare-change round-ups, in-app challenges. RevPoints are loyalty points, not money; they’re not regulated as a payment method and points expire after three years.
